What is a conductivity meter?
Conductivity meters are used to measure the conductivity of dielectric solutions.




The measuring principle of conductivity meter.
The measurement principle of the conductivity meter is based on the relationship between conductivity, conductivity, and conductivity cell constant. Apply a stable alternating current signal between the electrodes of the conductivity cell, measure the conductance of the solution between the electrodes, and obtain the conductivity based on the input conductivity cell constant.

Conductivity meter functions.
Measurement parameters: Different industries and different samples have different meanings. Measurement parameters need to be determined according to the actual situation. It can support conductivity, TDS, resistivity, salinity, ash, and temperature.
Reference temperature: Conductivity measures the conductivity of a solution and measures the total ion concentration. Ion activity is related to temperature, and the conductivity value of the sample changes with temperature. Different samples and different industries also have different requirements for reference temperature. The reference temperature can be selected from 25C, 20C, 18C, 15C, 10C, 50C.
Typical application:
Pure water machine: conductivity of 25C, such as 0.055uS/cm@25C.
Dialysate: conductivity at 25C, such as (12.5-15.5) mS/cm@25C.
Drinking water: conductivity of 25C, such as 180uS/cm@25C.
Drinking pure water: conductivity of 25C, such as (1-10)uS/cm@25C.
Groundwater: conductivity at 25C, such as 490uS/cm@25C.
Soil: conductivity at 25C, such as 6.9mS/cm@25C.
Honey: conductivity at 20C, such as 0.50mS/cm@20C.
Fructose syrup: conductivity at 20C, such as 24.4uS/cm@20C.

Compensation mode for conductivity.
Due to differences in solution components and physical and chemical properties, the compensation mechanisms and requirements of different samples vary.

Linear compensation: Each liquid has a different amplitude of change in conductance as the temperature changes. This amplitude of change is called temperature compensation coefficient, unit: %/C, which represents the percentage of change in conductance when the temperature does not change by 1 degree Celsius.
Pure water compensation: usually used to measure the conductivity of pure water and ultrapure water below 5uS/cm.
No compensation: True conductivity value at measured temperature.
Typical application.
Ultrapure water: conductivity of 25C, pure water compensation needs to be selected.
Groundwater: conductivity of 25C, linear compensation needs to be selected, and the temperature compensation coefficient is 2.0%/C.
Purified water for pharmaceutical use: The numerical error obtained by using the temperature-corrected calculation method for hydroelectric conductivity is large. Therefore, this method uses a non-temperature compensation mode, and the accuracy of temperature measurement should be within ±2C.
